My good friends Ray and Matt, along with my parents were there to see us off.
When leaving, you always have to say goodbye to your cat.
And off we went!
And out of Massachusetts
Into New York!
We made really good time. We stopped for a quick bite to eat for lunch at a rest stop in New York. We then drove west... and west... and west. Do you know how long New York is?
Really long.
We decided to stop for dinner at a really nice little Mexican restaurant in Dunkirk, NY. It was great! We got a combo for 2 and Flan for dessert. Yum!
Then we went through Pennsylvania shortly
We went through Cleveland (This took a lot of work to get, so kudos to Cathy for this shot of Downtown Cleveland!)
We traveled a little more past Cleveland. 700 miles in one day is pretty good!
Our current location:
Tomorrow we plan to drive to Madison, WI and maybe more depending on how we're feeling.
We're playing the license plate game -- where the aim is to see every license plate from the continental United States. So far, we've seen a ton! I don't have the list here with me but I think the only ones we're missing are:
South Carolina
Louisiana
New Mexico
Oregon
Montana
Wyoming
North Dakota
Minnesota
Nevada
Most of those we'll be driving through or near, so the only really hard ones left are South Carolina and Louisiana. Wish us luck!
However, for now we're off to bed as it's been quite a long day!

ReplyDeleteJust got up and came right to the computer to read your blog. You did make very good time. Already past Cleveland, Wow. I've been to Cleveland and Lorain Ohio. As I remember it Ohio is flat land with lots of railroad tracks. Your G-pa lived there as a teenager. I read your blog to him everyday. Love the pictures. Be Safe. G-ma

ReplyDeleteVery nice photos...Mexican food in New York? Tastes great, less filling--but never order Mexican food in New Jersey. Pick up any LeBron James souvenirs in Cleveland?? Just kidding! Hope you get some nice photos of UW in Madison and thank you for sharing this trip with all of us. I'm also keeping grandma Hughes updated on your trip and she loves the pictures as well!
